  • Low cost / lower resolution cameras may only require a single flash LED with simplified driver requirements.

+ Power Interface  

 

Battery powered portable platforms like Mobile Phones and Smartphones require internal load circuit switching and external input power ports for operation and battery charging.

 

Input power port protection is a paramount concern in mobile phone and smartphone design, as reliable power sources may not always be used. 

 

  • Over-voltage, transient and voltage surge protected load switches protect battery charge management and operating handset circuits in the event the device is connected to a faulty power source.
  • Programmable over voltage protection (OVP) shutdown thresholds.
  • Source voltage protection to 100V.
  • Transient voltage protection compliant to IEC61000-4-2 (Level 4).
  • ESD protection compliant to ±8kV contact, ±15kV air gap and ±2kV human body model.
  • Power interface switches can provide shutdown reverse or bi-directional current blocking to prevent damage to the internal battery should a short circuit occur at the external power port.

 

Integrated load switches provide internal power switching and are controlled by simple GPIO logic.

 

  • Eliminate the need for bias and level shift circuits associated with discrete MOSFET switches.
  • Load switches provide slew rate limited turn on and shutdown mode reverse current blocking to aid in design and control of peripheral circuits within the phone handset.

Multicolor RGB LEDs are often incorporated into mobile and smartphone handsets for function indicator lamps or fashion lighting features.

+ Voltage Regulation  

 

Mobile phone and Smartphone handsets typically use highly integrated power management ICs (PMIC) to supply the many required internal system power rails. However, in cases where a specific voltage rail is unavailable, a voltage regulator can be added to provide the necessary supplies. In other cases a peripheral application circuit may be located some distance from the system PMIC. 

 

  • Voltage regulators can supply a local supply rail with high efficiency at the point of load.
  • Single output high efficiency DC/DC switching step-up or step-down regulator can provide the needed application solution.
