SMTS, Applications Engineer

In the SMTS Applications Engineer role, you will work with the DC-DC Power Management team to define, validate and provide customer support for state-of-the-art DC/DC power management ICs.  You will participate in the entire product development cycle of DC-DC power management products including buck, boost, buck-boost, and flyback converters.

Primary responsibilities of this role include (but are not limited to):

  • Working with marketing and business management team contributing to the definition of new DC-DC power products
  • Evaluating board design, product validation and characterization in the lab
  • Creating datasheet, application notes, and user’s guides
  • Providing customer technical support and Supporting sales team with Design-In
  • Technical training of field applications engineers

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of industry experience as an Applications Engineer for power management IC or board-level Power Designer
  • Familiar with DC/DC converter topologies including buck, boost, and flyback converters
  • Understanding of control theory, closed loop compensation, stability analysis, etc
  • Experience with Schematic capture, PCB design tools such as Altium Designer or Allegro
  • Excellent hands-on lab skills with digital multi-meters, oscilloscope, electronic load, power supplies, spectrum analyzer, and function generator
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • B.S. in electrical engineering or equivalent, MSEE or PhD preferred, specialization in Power Electronics is a plus.
